Spiritual Truth for Living:
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. ~Ephesians 1:11-12
Guess what? You were created with a very specific purpose and mission for the LORD. The scripture says we were “predestined” which means God had plans for you, and me before we even arrived on this planet.
The problem is that many of us don’t realize we were designed for a specific calling. And if we don’t have an understanding of our identity, who it is we belong to, and the purpose we were created for then we waste countless hours striving to be like someone or something we’re not.
Who am I? Have you ever ask yourself that question? Do you like the answer?
I recently watched Disney’s newest rendition of my favorite childhood movie, Aladdin. Aladdin, a poor “street rat” seems content with his identity up until he meets a beautiful Princess. At which point he starts to question his identity, and his value.
He spends all of his energy trying to change who he is to win the heart of his beloved princess. He enlists the help of a genie in a magic lamp, and his only two companions, a magic carpet, and his monkey.
However, he quickly realizes all of his striving to be someone and something he is not, only creates more problems.
In the end, he wins the heart of the Princess by being himself. The “street rat” defeats the evil Jafar and saves the Kingdom using his street smarts, his courage, and his determination.
God wants us to have a clear vision for our life. He wants us to be confident in our identity so that we don’t fall into the trap of trying to be something we weren’t created to be. He wants to reveal to us our special gifts and talents so when the time comes to save the Kingdom we are ready and confident.
If you are struggling to find your specific talents, you can pray with me today; ask God to reveal them to you.
I come before You today, and ask that You would reveal to me what the gifts and talents are that you have placed in me. As I grow in my gifting, I ask that you would continue to lead me and guide me in the way I should go. Enable me to use my gifts for Your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
