Spiritual Truth for Living:
“A joyful heart is good medicine…” ~Proverbs 17:22
What is your morning mantra?
Most mornings, my first thought is, “What type of latte do I want today?” Other mornings, I linger under my covers and try to squeeze in as much sleep as possible. Sometimes, I spend extra time picking out my outfit or trying on different shoes.
Then there are those mornings I don’t get time to think, I hear, “MOM” from the other room and jump into action!
This morning was much different from other mornings though. As my mind gradually shifted from dreamland to reality, I heard a chorus in my head, singing the lyrics to a worship song I heard last Sunday morning at church. It was almost as if the song was actually coming from my speakers it was so clear. I didn’t ask Alexa to play any music this morning?!
The song continued in my head over and over for close to an hour before another worship song took its place.
True Joy Cannot Be Silenced By Our Daily Routines
The lyrics, “nothing is impossible” and “the victory is yours” from a heavenly choir rang loudly in my mind. I finally decided, this must be the full manifestation of true Joy! As I went through the morning motions, nothing could drown out the music in my head and in my heart.
There are many verses in the Bible about Joy. Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with Joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
For some reason on this day, the sun shone brighter then ever before and everything seemed to sparkle all around me.
Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
God is in our midst everyday. He is watching as I dream about Chestnut Praline Lattes, as I choose my outfit, and curl my hair. He sees me making breakfast, and packing lunches, and he is rejoicing over me with a heavenly chorus. How cool is that?!?
This Thanksgiving season as we prepare to spend time with family and friends, I am very thankful for a Heavenly Father who smiles on me each day, and sends great joy into my life with songs of hope and happiness!
