“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” ~Psalm 127:3
It’s the Thanksgiving Challenge! Think of something you can give Thanks for today.
I am giving Thanks for Motherhood!!
I found this old picture from a skate party at Rollercade and thought it would be perfect to post for Flashback Friday!
Have you ever tried to skate with two small children pulling you in opposite directions? That is a Challenge even harder then the limbo or backwards skate!!!
Parenting Is A Roller Coaster Ride
If you are a parent then you know that parenting comes with many ups, and downs! It can be minute by minute, or even hour by hour that you feel like you are on a roller coaster of success that loops you into a spiral of confusion, then down a hill of failure, before you make the climb back to success again!
No matter how crazy the ride gets at times, I can’t help feeling incredibly thankful for the thrill. Psalm 127:3 tells us that children are a gift from God. He gives us children as a blessing to enrich our lives.
Our Children Have a Destiny
God designed and planned each child to be special and unique, Psalms 139:16 says, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Sometimes I worry I will not be able to give my kids all the time, love, and attention I wish I could give, but God wants us as parents to trust Him.
God will provide the right teachers, coaches, friends, and experiences to develop each child for the specific calling he has planned long before we entered the scene.
I often forget, as my children were growing inside my womb for 9 fulls months, God was in charge, not me. He took His time to form their little hands and feet. He skillfully chose their skin tone, facial features, hair and eye color. He made sure my kids received the nutrition they needed. But the second they were born, I tried to take over for God.
God won’t disappear after your child is born. He is there orchestrating each and every scenario to make sure our children have everything they need. It is our job to Give Thanks for His incredible blessing, to Pray for our children and Teach them to fear and love the Lord.
Lamentations 2:19 tells us, “Pour out your heart like water before the face of the LORD. Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your young children.” God wants us to pray and trust Him. He will take care of the rest.
