Shifting the Focus

Dear Diary,

This week it has been raining off and on, which left me disappointed that I have not been able to run as much as I would have liked too.

Today, as I watched the storm roll in, I realized we all have seasons of difficulty or disappointment. Everyone experiences unexpected setbacks, but that is not an excuse to loose focus.

Sometimes doors are closed and life does not go the way we planned in order to Shift our Focus in a New Direction.

Instead of looking around at the circumstances holding me back from my goal of going on several long runs, I shifted my focus in a new direction. I chose to focus this week on stretching.

There are so many benefits to stretching the muscles before and after exercise. Flexibility is great to maintain a wide range of motion in the joints.

Stretching keeps my muscles strong and healthy. Stretching releases all the lactic acid which can build up and cause pain after training. A good stretch is also relaxing mentally and physically.

This week I learned the importance and wisdom in knowing when to shift my focus in a new direction.

There are times in life when it is important to push through the setbacks, and then there are times when a difficult situation is leading to a new direction, true wisdom is knowing how to recognize between the two.
