Trail Run

Dear Diary,

It’s Wellness Wednesday and I was up with the sun! Today I was anxious to get out in the crisp fall air and go for a trail run at Forest Park.

Nothing on earth makes me feel more alive then being outdoors in the middle of God’s great creation. The vast array of colors in the deep blue sky, the bright yellow sun, and the forest of green trees takes my breath away as I run the 6 mile course around the park.

The beauty in nature combined with the endorphins from pushing my body to reach new records in speed, and distance is my #1 antidote for combating daily stress.

I believe Mina Samuels would agree as she has written an amazing book titled, Run Like A Girl: How Strong Women Make Happy Lives, which talks about the confidence and strength that comes as a result of participating in regular athletic training. My favorite quote comes from her writing, “Our running shoes have magic in them – the power to transform a bad day into a good day; frustration into speed; self-doubt into confidence; chocolate cake into muscle.”

Feeling fabulous and inspired on this Wellness Wednesday by nature and running, St. Louis has once again been good to me.
